Productivity increase in the electronics industry
Productivity increase in the electronics industry
Industry:
electronics industry
Focus:
Mobile phone production
Challenge:
Increasing the output per shift through analysis and improvement of the transport system is required. Due to problems with the transport process in mobile phone production, the current volume is 1,200 devices per shift.
Objective:
The objective is to increase the volume to 1,500 devices per shift.
Our Solution:
Six Sigma
Project duration:
about 6 months
Action:
A Six Sigma project was initiated. The following summarizes the activities of the completed phases:
› Measure:
The potential factors were determined by means of a systematic process analysis. Furthermore, data were determined on important quantities such. As the “output per layer” and the number of workpiece carriers.
› Analysis:
Existing differences in volume per shift could be demonstrated with tools such as boxplot, multi-vari-chart and ANOVA. The main influencing variable was the number of product carriers in the transport system.
› Improve:
After a calculated sample size of 15 layers, a one-factor experiment was performed. An increase of 240 was found to be significant.
› Control:
To ensure the optimal number of product carriers in the transport system, a regular audit was defined and implemented.
Results:
Increase the output per shift by 240 pieces per day with an optimal number of product carriers in the transport system!
Achieved benefit: > € 400,000, – per year
